Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on Peristil Square: A Day at Lvxor, Split

Peristil changes several times a day. In the morning it is empty and cool, at midday full and hot, in the evening lit and full of people in no hurry to leave. Lvxor sits on its edge and changes with it, so the real question is not whether it is worth a visit but at what hour.

This is a guide to that day, with the actual times.

Morning: breakfast from 8 to 11.30

We open the doors at 8 and breakfast is served until 11.30. That is the quietest part of the day on the square: the stone is still cool, the guided groups have not arrived, and for an hour or two Peristil belongs to whoever got up first.

Breakfast is eaten outside, on cushions on the ancient steps, and everything is made to order. The list runs to omelettes, eggs Benedict, an English breakfast, salmon and scrambled eggs on guacamole, a fruit breakfast and smoothies. If you have only one morning in Split, this is an hour worth spending here.

Midday: a lighter lunch

As the sun climbs, the square comes to life. For lunch we lean on lighter Mediterranean dishes: fresh fish, pasta, risotto and seasonal vegetables, with salads and pizza for anyone who wants something quicker.

There is no rule about what is ordered outside and what indoors. The full menu and the full drinks list are served both on the steps and in the room under the painted ceiling, so the choice comes down to where you would rather sit that day.

Afternoon: coffee, then the first drink

The afternoon is the longest and most relaxed part of the day. Coffee is served all day, and hot drinks until 8 in the evening. Somewhere in the late afternoon the cushions come out and the list shifts naturally towards the aperitivo: a spritz, a Hugo, a glass of white.

It is also the best time to photograph the square without a crowd in the frame, because the day groups thin out before dinner.

Evening: dinner and live music

Evening is when Lvxor is at its best. Light picks out the columns, candles go on the tables, and the menu turns to the fuller dishes, from steak to fresh fish, alongside the wine and cocktail lists.

From 8 until 11 acoustic live music plays on the square, every evening of the season. There is no ticket and you do not book for it. The kitchen takes orders until 11.30 and we are open until midnight, so dinner, the music and a last glass all have room to overlap.

Practical

We are open every day from 8 until midnight, including nearly all public holidays. We accept all major cards, prices are in euros, and VAT and service are already included in the price on the menu.

A reservation holds a table in the room inside. Outside on the steps you simply take a seat, and on summer evenings the cushions fill early, so arrive before the music starts.
